Wake Up Technique

How we start our day, determines the tone set for the rest of the day.

If we start our day with dread, chances are we are going to have a dreadful day.

If we start our day on a positive note, chances are we are going to feel good and attract good things in our life.

This mental exercise is designed to help you become more aware of what thoughts are flowing through your mind as soon as your eyes pop open.

Step 1: Wake up in the morning and before your feet even hit the floor, while you are still lying-in bed,

Step 2: Close your eyes, take a deep breath,

Step 3: Pause and Listen to the inner dialogue happening within,

Step 4: What are the thoughts that run through your mind before getting out of bed?

  • Are you thinking about your to-do list?
  • Are you thinking about that meeting you have to attend?
  • Are you thinking about how you wish you didn’t have to get up?
  • You wish you didn’t have to go to work?
  • You wish you didn’t have to _________ …

Step 5: Write them down in a journal (track your thoughts over 5 days to become aware of thought patterns),

What are some of the thoughts that came up consistently?

These are the thoughts running on autopilot in the background that you aren’t even aware of..

If you want to shift these thought patterns, try meditating, repeating affirmations or visualizing what you want your day to look like rather than dreading it.
