Becoming aware of how you feel in moments throughout your day is powerful.

Learning to hit the pause button during moments throughout your day and tune into your body (we call this going within) empowers you to begin taking control of how you’re feeling at different parts of the day, rather than being the victim to life’s circumstances.

I encourage you to use The Awareness Tune-in Exercise often throughout your day, especially when you are first bringing the practice of awareness into your life.

By going through this exercise several times, a day, you will begin to notice what encounters throughout the day make you feel great, and which ones upset you.

You’ll see how they show up in your body and will also begin to notice when a situation that is out of your controls causes you to feel an upset emotion for far longer than it’s probably worth.

Remember this is a process, so no guilt and shame if you spend a whole day pissed  off at the car that cut you off when you first begin checking in with your emotions.

Forgive yourself and let go… move on.

A sign of growth is how quickly you can let go of those upset emotions if there is nothing you can do about them.

Or how quickly you can resolve them if they need additional attention, while doing so from a place of clarity rather than rage.

Tune-in Exercise:

Part 1:

Identify a moment in the day when you feel particularly great.

Pause and freeze frame in the moment.

Where do you feel this showing up?

What emotion is here for you?

How is it affecting your mood?

 Part 2:

Identify a moment in the day when you don’t feel so good – you’re angry, sad, depressed or upset.

Pause and freeze frame in the moment.

Where do you feel this showing up?

What emotion is here for you?

How is it affecting your mood?
