Thoughts affect our emotions, and our emotions affect our thoughts.

Good emotional health has awareness to thoughts, feelings, and behaviors – learning to cope with stress and problems in a healthy way for the mind and body.

Having awareness of our emotions, provides space for us to expand our ability to sit with positive and negative emotions, feeling through them rather than trying to push them away.

Exercise:

Think of a day when you felt everything was going really good for you, like you were on top of the world… Tune into your body and notice what is happening for you in this moment as you recall the experience:

Are you smiling?

Are you sitting up or standing taller?

How do you feel in your body?

Even just recalling a time when you were feeling great can shift the way you feel in your body as well as your body language.

 

Now, think of a day when everything felt like it was chaotic and out of sorts… Tune into your body and notice what is happening for you in this moment as you recall the experience:

Did you hunch over in your shoulders?

Did your face scowl or you lost the smile?

How do you feel in your body?

Our emotions from moment to moment have a huge impact in what we attract into our day. Even just recalling good emotions or days when we were feeling angry can feed the thought emotion feedback loop and bring up those same emotions again. Thus, also bringing up the same feelings and responses in our body.
